ABOUT US
The Chabot Marlins are one of eleven teams that compete in the East Bay Swim League. The EBSL was founded over 35 years ago, and is comprised of teams in locations on the east side of San Francisco Bay from the Fremont Warm Springs district on the south to San Leandro and Castro Valley on the north. The EBSL is governed by a set of by-laws, and generally follows the U.S. High School Swim Rules. The EBSL season can begin with practices mid March and ends with a league CHAMPS Meet in July.
The home of the Marlins is the Chabot Swim Club in Castro Valley, CA, with which we are affiliated. We accept non-Club members, but as we are affiliated and use Club facilities, Club members receive preference for team admission, discounted registration, and of course, the benefits of Club membership.
Our team focuses on fun, fitness, family, teamwork, healthy competition, and the athletic and personal growth and improvement of each of our swimmers.
The Marlins enjoy a professional coaching staff as well as several college-age junior coaches. We can begin 5-day-per-week practices mid March and our competitive meets take place on Saturdays mid May through mid July. Marlins swimmers on high school swim teams during the school year attend their high school practices in lieu of Marlins practices until the high school swim season ends.
Throughout our season we hold a mix of fun team events and family gatherings which help to facilitate the family atmosphere and the unique community of the Marlins Swim Team.
The Marlins are managed by a Board of Directors independent of the Chabot Swim Club Board. All team management positions are unpaid except for those of the coaches. Energetic participation and volunteerism by all parents of swimmers is necessary and required for the team to function.
